Lila (2015), HD video (video still), 16:9, 1'10", loop, stereo sound, color

The work LILA shows people in the streets of Amsterdam. They didn’t know that they were filmed, but it looks like they were acting for the camera. Their movement, gestures and facial expression are iconographically and we know them from movies or commercials. The question is how much is our behaviour influenced by media? Or is it our perception wich is affected from that how we perceive things?
The documentary video material merges to fiction. What we see are fragmentary portraits of different persons. The beginning and the end are missing. Thus, the viewer is enticed to complete the fragments in his head and interpret them. By cinematic means, it seems like there’s a story.
